Operation Freedom

Kennels are life changing for outdoor dogs. Kennels provide dogs the ability to run free without the weight of the chain around their necks, as well as keeping them safe from stray dogs, wildlife, and any humans that may wish them harm. 

Through our Operation Freedom program, Dog Aide builds kennels for dogs that live outside on a chain due to lack of proper fencing or containment issues. Families that are part of the L.O.D.G.E. Project that have met our kennel requirements are eligible to receive a kennel for their outdoor dog. To receive a kennel, clients must demonstrate improved care of their pets, and compliance with Dog Aide’s outreach program rules. All kennels are 6ft high, most are 10ft x 20ft, include a roof, and are partially wrapped to offer extra protection from the elements. 

Since 2021, Dog Aide has built 120 kennels for Detroit dogs.
